Admission to 2 years B.Ed. Programme Admission for the year 2018

Applications are invited for admission in the year 2018 in the two year B.Ed course for the academic session  2018-20 at Government Training College, Hooghly, from Fresh and  Deputed (Teachers of Secondary Schools) candidates. Only male candidates are eligible for this Govt. College, affiliated to the University of Burdwan. This Govt. Institution is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Candidates, engaged in any other course of studies/ job/full time research work, shall not be allowed to pursue this course simultaneously.

Eligibility : Candidates (both Fresh  & Deputed) with at least 50% marks either in the  Bachelor’s  Degree and /or in the Masters Degree in Science/Social Science/ Mathematics/Language/Music.

Available method subjects in our Institution are Bengali, Sanskrit, History, Life Science (Zoology/Botany), Physical Science (Physics / Chemistry), Mathematics, and Music. .
There shall be relaxation of 5% marks in favour of S.C. / S.T. & P.W.D. (Persons with Disabilities) categories.

N.B.: 50% or 45% marks (as the case may be – in case of SC /ST/PWD) in Bachelor’s degree with Honours may be determined either on the basis of Honours marks only or on the basis of Honours marks & marks of the elective subjects taken together (in case of pass graduate). If someone has 49% marks in Honours subject, then he may calculate the total marks along with the elective subject marks to reach 50% eligibility criteria.

           But for the preparation of merit list for the admission into the course, Honours with 50% and above marks will be preferred. Further it is clarified that Honours candidate should not add up marks obtained in the elective subject with Honours marks. He must produce marks obtained in the Honours Subjects only.

Age LimitAge of the fresh candidates as on 30th June , 2018 shall not exit 38 years and there shall be relaxation of five years in favour of fresh PWD category candidates.

Reservation : 22% and 6%  of total seats  shall be kept reserved for SC & ST candidate (both fresh & deputed) respectively and PWD candidates will enjoy 3% reservation in each of the categories, i.e. in SC/ST & in the unreserved or general category .

Total no. of seats is 50 (Fifty) of which 25(twenty five) are reserved for fresh candidates and 25 (twenty five) for the Deputed Teachers. Admission will be done as per the merit list and existing norms .For Deputed Teachers length of service in an approved school will be taken into consideration. If the seats, reserved for deputed teachers, remain vacant, they will be de-reserved and offered to the fresh candidates.

  1. The names of selected candidates and date(s) of admission will be notified in the website.
  2. After publication of merit list, the fee(s) to be submitted along with hard copy of application and photocopies of other testimonials,  photocopies  of approval of D.I., Resolution of managing committee or Governing Body and experience certificate from the Head of the Institution (for deputed candidates only) to be submitted along with original copies and testimonials for verification during provisional admission.
  3. Fees for admission as per recommendation / approval of Government, University Fees/ Sessional charges etc. including all is Rs. 7000.00 (Seven thousand only) to be submitted through SBI Demand Draft in favour of The Principal, Govt. Training College., Hooghly, Payable at SBI, Chinsurah Branch (Branch Code 56), Hooghly.
  4. Hostel facilities may be provided subject to availability of hostel seats for which separate application with development fees and others establishment charges to be paid, as per existing rules and regulation, which would be changed from time to time.
  5. 80% seats are reserved for the student of Parent University and 20% seats for other others Universities.
  6. Online application will commence on and from 16th April, 2018 to 10th  May, 2018 after publication of this admission notice according to the given pro-forma / application form .
  7. Reservation of seats for admission is as per State Government / NCTE norms.
  8. Rules and regulation of NCTE, Govt. of W.B. and The University of Burdwan will be strictly followed regarding admission procedure and choice of method subject.

*  Submission of Application Form:

Before submitting the application forms, candidates must ensure that they have carefully and neatly entered their detailed information and the marks in different columns of the forms. Any overwriting or double writing should be avoided. They should also preferably use ball-point pen while filling in the application.

a) Fresh candidates must enclose self attested photo copies of Admit Card [M.P.(S.E.) or equivalent], Mark Sheets ( both sides) of all the public examinations passed and Certificate(s) of M. Phil. and/or Ph.D., if any.

b) Candidates (both Fresh & Deputed), who are seeking reservation against SC/ST category, must enclose self attested photo copy of the Certificate obtained from the competent authority to authenticate their claim. Relevant certificate must conform to THE W.B. GOVT. MEMO NO.1813-BCW/MR-94/11 dated Kolkata, 20th June, 2011. 


** At the time of admission, selected candidates (both fresh and deputed) must produce all the credentials in original. The mere fact that any candidate, provisionally recommended for admission through counselling does not by itself ensure admission to the course unless his original credentials are found in order and admission shall be made final only after proper verification of all the credentials in original. In addition, Deputed candidate(s) must have to submit ‘NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE’ in original, at the time of admission, taken from their employer permitting them to pursue the course of studies (from July 2018 to June 2020) on fulltime basis.
